Serifino Double-Wall Thermo Glasses {review} Iced Coffee Recipe

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Spring is here and it's time for all those fun iced drinks! Iced tea, iced coffee and even the refreshing cocktails and ice cold beer!

Ozeri has the perfect glass for serving such delicious, refreshing cold beverages. It's the Serifino double-wall thermo glasses. They can hold up to 16 oz if filled to the brim. What makes these glasses unique is that they are all made from mouth-blown borosilicate glass. This glass is heat resistant, durable and shatter resistant (although, I did not test this feature). The double wall design allows for dead air space between the layers of glass which makes for a really good insulator for you hot or cold beverages. Your hands will not get too cold (or wet from condensation) or too hot holding onto your glass and your beverage will hold its temperature longer than it would in a single wall glass. Each of these glasses is slightly different due to the fact that they are mouth blown, so no two glasses will be exactly alike.

Another unique quality of the borosilicate glass is that it is acid resistant. Which means that no matter what beverage you are putting into your Serafino glass (wine, coffee, etc) you won't get any discoloration on your glass.

I was very pleased with how these glasses were shipped. They were packed with care and extra stuffing and bubble wrap to ensure they did not break during transit.

Cleaning the glass is fairly easy as well! It can be put in the dishwasher, but you have to be careful that it won't bump into other dishes causing the glass to crack or break. The glass is wide enough to fit your hand in with a dish cloth to easily hand wash.

When I first got them in the mail, I told my husband all about them. He actually grabbed one, washed it (I know, I was surprised too) and poured himself a beer. He had a 12 oz beer which fit perfectly in the glass with a bit of room left at the top. He has used it a few times since, but being that the glasses are slightly wider than a traditional single wall glass, he said doesn't really like holding on to them. Although, it hasn't stopped him from using them.

Being pregnant I can't exactly have beer, but I was really craving iced coffee. So I decided I'd make a decaffeinated cold brew and add some homemade vanilla coffee syrup and some half & half. Tastes just like a Starbucks Frappuccino! Unlike my husband, I didn't see any notable difference in holding this glass vs. a traditional one-walled glass.

When it comes to iced coffee, many people just do a regular coffee brew and let it cool off. But from what I have read and heard from friends, it just doesn't taste as good as making a cold brew. My husband doesn't drink iced coffee so I only make about a pitcher worth at a time.

To make the iced coffee you'll need:

  • Regular sized pitcher (I think mine is two qt)
  • 2.5 cups coffee grounds (trial and error to alter to your taste)
  • Cold water
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Cheese cloth
  1. Put coffee grounds into your pitcher and fill with cold water.
  2. Mix grounds so they are all evenly saturated.
  3. Let sit 8-12 hours, if you are doing it during the day, give it a stir half way through just to pull the grounds back into the water.
  4. Using your strainer lined with the cheese cloth pour your mixture into another clean pitcher or container. As you get to the grounds you will need to use a spatula or spoon to press the liquid out and scoop out the grounds.
  5. Refrigerate up to two weeks or until it starts to taste bitter. But if you're anything like me, this small batch will not last that long!
To make the vanilla syrup you'll need:
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (I may have used a tad more)
  1. Mix water and sugar in sauce pan. Heat on medium stirring regularly until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add vanilla extract then allow to cool.
  3. Store in an airtight container or jar at room temperature.

  1. I also really like to use brown sugar instead of sugar in my homemade vanilla syrup recipe - makes it thicker :)
